Welcome to the home page for our research on electroreception with weakly electric fish. From 1987-1999, Chris Assad (chris.assad@jpl.nasa.gov) and Brian Rasnow studied weakly electric fish in the Bower lab at the California Institute of Technology, Pasadena, California. We wanted to understand how these fish generate an electric field, how their electric field is affected by nearby objects, and what neuronal computations they may use to perceive and identify objects and other fish in their environment.
